Jereh Begins Construction of KOC’s Oil-Based Cuttings Treatment Project

Jereh New Energy Regeneration and Recycling Technology Co., Ltd. (Jereh NER) has commenced construction of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Oil-Based Cuttings (OBM) Treatment Project in Kuwait, marking a major step forward in the development of an advanced oil-based drill cuttings treatment and resource-recovery facility.

Jereh NER is one of four contractors awarded under KOC’s current tender for oil-based cuttings treatment services. The company has become the first among the four awarded contractors to officially commence site infrastructure construction, following the completion of pre-construction activities and approval of the project site by KOC.

The project is strategically significant for Jereh’s expansion in Kuwait’s environmental protection and oilfield services market. It is designed to support KOC’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of oil-based drill cuttings generated from drilling operations while enabling the recovery and reuse of valuable resources.

As the general contractor, Jereh NER is responsible for end-to-end project coordination, resource mobilization and construction support. The company completed key pre-construction activities within approximately 50 days after signing the contract and receiving the KOC-approved project land.

The preparatory works included site layout design and approval, engagement and contracting of key suppliers, site investigations, and geotechnical surveys, enabling the project to rapidly progress into the construction phase.

The overall construction period is scheduled for 300 calendar days. During this period, Jereh NER and its project partners will work in accordance with KOC’s stringent Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements and engineering standards, with a focus on maintaining construction safety, quality and schedule performance.

Upon completion, the facility will utilize Jereh’s proprietary thermal-phase-separation technology for oil-based cuttings to achieve efficient three-phase separation of oil, water and solids.

The treatment process is expected to enable the effective reduction, environmentally safe treatment and resource recovery of oil-based drill cuttings, supporting KOC’s objectives for more sustainable and environmentally responsible oilfield operations.

The commencement of construction represents a further expansion of Jereh’s environmental engineering capabilities in the Middle East and demonstrates the company’s ability to rapidly mobilize resources and execute cross-regional environmental protection projects.

The KOC OBM cuttings treatment facility is expected to contribute to the development of greener oilfield operations in Kuwait by providing an integrated solution for the treatment and resource recovery of drilling waste.
