DVC Inks Long-term PPA for Power Supply to Karnataka DISCOMs

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply 300 MW of round-the-clock thermal power to Karnataka's five electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs).

The power will be sourced from DVC's upcoming Koderma Thermal Power Station Phase-II (2x800 MW), currently under development. The agreement aims to meet Karnataka’s growing energy demand with dependable and affordable thermal power. The pact was signed at the headquarters of Power Company of Karnataka (PCKL), expanding DVC’s existing supply of 450 MW to the southern state.

The PPA was formalized between DVC, PCKL, and the five DISCOMs. With this agreement, DVC has now finalized PPAs for all three of its major upcoming projects — Koderma Phase-II, Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) Phase-II, and other expansion projects — bringing its total new generation capacity under agreement to 3,720 MW. PCKL Managing Director Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar added that the agreement would help ensure consistent power supply at competitive rates.
