Arunachal Approves Transfer of Terminated Hydropower Projects to CPSUs

The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet approved the transfer of five terminated hydropower projects with a total capacity of 2820 MW involving a Rs 40000 crore investment to Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) on January 10, 2023.

 

The following five projects were with individual power producers before they were terminated: Naying (1000 MW), Hirong (500 MW), Emini (500 MW), Amulin (420 MW), and Minundon (400 MW). The first two projects will be handed over to North Eastern Electric Power Corporation, and the other three to SJVN.

 

In addition, a plan of action for the 13 priority projects, which have a combined capacity of 12343 MW, has also been created. A total of Rs 1.5 lakh crore will be invested as a result, and the state will receive free power worth Rs 2000 crore and about Rs 350 crore per year for local area development.
