Saipem Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri Contracting Company (SNSH), the jointly controlled company established by Saipem and Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri and Partners Company for Contracting (NSH), has officially launched the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant Project in Saudi Arabia, following the award of the major EPC contract by Saudi Aramco.
The project kick-off meeting brought together senior representatives and project teams from Saudi Aramco, Saipem, SNSH and NSH to align on the project’s execution strategy, objectives, key milestones and delivery priorities.
The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, signed through SNSH, has a duration of approximately 42 months, with Saipem’s share valued at approximately €900 million (SAR 3.9 billion).
The Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant will serve the Uthmaniyah non-associated gas field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. The project involves the development of a new gas compression facility aimed at extending the productive life of the field and supporting the Kingdom’s growing energy requirements.
Under the contract, SNSH is responsible for the full EPC scope, covering engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of the new gas compression facilities and associated infrastructure.
The project represents a significant milestone for SNSH as the first EPC project awarded under Saudi Arabia’s National EPC Champion Program. The program is designed to develop national EPC capabilities capable of executing major onshore energy projects while maximizing the utilization of local resources, expertise and supply chains.
The kick-off meeting was attended by senior Saudi Aramco representatives, including Adel Al Ghamdi, Project Executive Director & Company Representative, and Theyab Al Hajri, Senior Operation Representative.
Saipem was represented by Fulvio Crippa, Country Manager; Fabrizio Serravalle, CEO SNSH General Manager & Contractor Representative; Saud Boday, Country HR Manager; and Sergio Corti, Project Manager. NSH representatives included Bobby Paul, SNSH Chief Operating Officer (COO), and S. Unni, NSH Director Operations, together with project teams from all participating organizations.
The strong participation of the project stakeholders underscores the strategic importance of the development and their shared commitment to delivering the project safely, efficiently and in accordance with the highest standards of quality and operational excellence.
The Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant is expected to contribute to the strengthening of Saudi Arabia’s natural gas infrastructure and support the Kingdom’s long-term gas development strategy. The project also demonstrates the growing role of partnerships between international EPC companies and Saudi contractors in delivering major energy infrastructure projects while strengthening local capabilities and maximizing local content.
Through SNSH, Saipem and NSH combine Saipem’s international engineering and project management capabilities with NSH’s extensive Saudi construction expertise, establishing a platform focused on delivering major onshore EPC projects in the Kingdom.
