PGCIL’s Board gives nod to Rs 485cr SCADA Upgrade

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has approved a major technology modernization initiative involving the upgradation of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and associated systems at its National Transmission Asset Management Centre (NTAMC) and Regional Transmission Asset Management Centres (RTAMCs).

The company’s Board of Directors cleared the proposal sanctioning an estimated investment of Rs 485.04 crore. The project is designed to strengthen the utility’s grid monitoring asset management and operational control capabilities across India’s vast transmission network. By replacing and enhancing existing systems Power Grid aims to improve real time visibility faster decision making system reliability and overall operational efficiency. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to provide advanced monitoring tools that support better management of transmission assets and network performance.

With this approval PGCIL intends to build a resilient technology driven transmission ecosystem capable of supporting future electricity demand while ensuring reliable and efficient power flow across the country going forward. The Board has approved an overseas borrowing facility to support its funding requirements.
