REC Forms 3 Subsidiaries to Fast-track Inter-State Transmission Network for RE

REC has incorporated three wholly-owned subsidiaries under REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) to fast-track the development of inter-state power transmission infrastructure.

The move is aimed at strengthening India’s renewable energy evacuation network. The newly formed entities are Bhadla Ramgarh Power Transmission, Lakadia II Power Transmission, and Jam Khambhaliya Jamnagar Power Transmission, each with an authorized and paid-up capital of Rs five lakh. These companies have been established following a Ministry of Power gazette notification, appointing RECPDCL as the bid process coordinator for key inter-state transmission projects. The projects are designed to support large-scale integration of renewable energy into the national grid and improve transmission capacity across critical corridors.

Key objectives include augmentation of transmission infrastructure at Bhadla-III, Ramgarh and Kanpur pooling stations, integration of renewable energy from the Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone in Gujarat (Phase II, 7.5 GW), and development of a unified transmission system for evacuating power from Lakadia, Jam Khambhaliya and Jamnagar renewable energy projects. The initiative is expected to strengthen grid reliability, enhance renewable energy dispatch efficiency, and support India’s transition toward a cleaner and more integrated power system.
