Iraq to Develop the Oil Industry in Wasit Governorate

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani, arrived in Wasit Governorate and met with its governor, Mr. Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, and members of the government and local departments in the governorate.

 

The most important thing stated in the Minister’s statement:

- The governorate receives government attention and support.

- We are keen to communicate with the local government and the governor to advance the service situation and develop the oil industry.

- Issues and projects of common interest to advance the service situation and develop the oil industry in the governorate were discussed.

- We are working on establishing the Wasit Oil Company.

- Specialized companies were invited to participate in investment opportunities to build the Wasit Investment Refinery.

- International companies were invited to develop 3 fields and an exploration plot in the governorate as part of the fifth complementary oil licensing round.

- We are working to develop the distribution sector and improve the service situation in the governorate.

- Social benefits allocations were increased to support the service and health sectors for citizens.

 

For his part, the Governor of Wasit, Mr. Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, praised the government and ministry support for developing the oil industry in the governorate, expressing his hope to achieve more development projects that contribute to improving the economic reality of the governorate.

 

The Ministry's delegation includes the Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Mr. Bassem Muhammad Khudair, and the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs, Mr. Ali Maaraj. And a number of directors of oil companies and departments of the Ministry’s headquarters.
