India: Work Underway on Amar Mahal-Trombay Low Level Reservoir Water Tunnel

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has undertaken construction of a tunnel in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

 

The project will entail an investment of Rs 750 crore. The water tunnel from Amar Mahal (Hegdewar Udyan) to Trombay Low Level Reservoir and further up to Trombay High Level Reservoir will replace the old inlet mains, thereby fulfill the increased water demand of the population of M/East and M/West wards.

 

In August 2018, Patel Engineering bagged an order worth Rs 618.21 crore for construction of the project.

 

Currently, shaft excavation work is underway.
