Mazoon Eyes Oman Electricity Infrastructure Modernisation

Mazoon Electricity, the leading electricity provider in Oman, said it has energised several projects during the first half of the year in a bid to boost efficiency, enhance reliability and expand serving capability.

These developments will add value to the services the company extends and will contribute to enhancing its overall capacity, said a statement from the Omani company.

It comes as a part of Mazoon Electricity’s persistent endeavours to improve the performance level of the electrical networks in the various governorates that it provides services in, the statement added.

Despite the Covid-19 challenges, Mazoon’s first half performance has led to robust operational successes, projects, and upgradations, said a company spokesman.

Mazoon Electricity completed the energising of Al Haram and Al Harradi substations with a voltage of 11/33 kV and a capacity of 3 x 20 MVA for each one, and Al-Aqeer substation with a voltage of 11/33 kV and a capacity of 2 x 20 MVA in the Wilayat of Barka in South Al Batinah Governorate.

The energising of the new station will efficiently support and meet the demands of the increased load.

The significance of the new station in Al Haram will reduce the load on the existing electrical lines that feed each of Al Sallaha, Al Haram, Al Harradi, Asem west, Mazra'a Al Haradi and Al Aqeer areas.

In addition, energising and upgrading of Al Awabi primary substations (33/11kV) to 2 x 20 MVA at South Al Batinah governorate was completed in March 2020 at a project value of RO2 million.

The upgrading and energising of Sur stadium to 2x20 MVA at South Al Sharqiyah Governorate was completed in March at a cost of RO3 million, while the upgrading of Al Habbi primary substation to 2x20 MVA with 11 kV feeders at Bahla in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate was completed the month before t an investment of RO1 million.

As part of the construction, 33kV outgoing feeders from Bidiyah grid station at North Al Sharqiya governorate were partially energised and construction of 33 kV and other 11 kV feeders for Al Musfiyyah, Al Egga and Sur Stadium PSS at Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, said the statement from Mazoon.
