Kerala Water Authority Proposes New Water Treatment Plant

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has proposed to set up a new plant at Aluva where it has 3.5 acres of land at the site of the existing treatment plant and pump house.

A detailed project report (DPR) on the new plant with a capacity of 150 MLD is being prepared. It is proposed to be a non-conventional plant that can be set up in less land with the technology of dual media plate settler.

The cost of the project is yet to be worked out. The 225 MLD plant at Aluva is overloaded to produce 290 MLD, but it still falls short of the region’s demand by over 70 MLD.
